• The APT Visit Planner shall have these capabilities:
  1. Indicate the times when visits can or cannot be scheduled.
  2. Indicate the reasons that a visit cannot schedule at a particular time.
  3. Provide direct access to editors within APT to change visits and the relationships between visits to modify schedulability.
  4. Provide general advice on techniques to obtain desired schedulability.
  5. Provide analysis of how particular visits might be modified to improve their schedulability or to obtain schedulability for particular dates.

    Any grouping of observations which can be scheduled as a unit.
  • Observation Requirements
    The requirements which observers place on observations to meet science goals.
  • Observatory Restrictions
    The restrictions which an observatory places on observations as a matter of policy or physical limitations.

• Here are other ideas for requirements that should be documented, but not part of the main requirements because they are too detailed or possibly beyond scope.
  • Provide a mechanism to support access to visit customized for individual observatories.
  • Allow the user to choose which constraints to use when calculating schedulability.
  • Allow schedulability of visits from multiple observatories to be simultaneously displayed. (This does not mean to have the capability to determine the schedulability of observations coordinated between different observatories.)

• Decide how a GUI should look to support user scheduling activities (by July 9th).
