Meeting to discuss possible Percy enhancements - 06/04/01 Attendees: Rusty Whitman Scott Stallcup Percy uses custom code to support graphics devices/formats. Currently the only file format supported is postscript. Support for additional devices can be added and should be similar in effort to what was required to add postscript support. JPL maintains the SpiceLib package. It is available in both C and Fortran versions. Percy uses the Fortran version of Spicelib with STScI enhancements. Ephemeris files are provided by JPL [Andy L. says new version need only be obtained every few years]. Binary versions of the Percy application are distributed if requested. At one point there was some interest in converting Percy to run as a server but after investigation it was found to require massive changes to the application. Percy has some limitations on the number of ephemeris files that can be opened at once. [this should not be a problem for moving target support since only one or two objects are usually involved]
